Today is the kids last day of Spring Break and they start school tomorrow , but that wont last long because they are off again Thursday and Friday due to another holiday here in the Valencian Community. I’m not 100% sure but I think on Thursday April 3rd (of this year, I think it falls on different dates every year, always after Easter) is a local Alicante holiday called La Mona de Pascua: It is a day where families gather and it the typical Easter cake called La Mona (yes, the monkey, don’t ask).
In the end it just means another day off from work, school, another day to relax and since it falls on a Thursday then, hey what the hell as they call it here “puente” (bridge) to Friday and that day now too becomes a Holiday. See how easy it is.. You guys must come to Spain where between the local, national and pretty soon International holidays will be part of your everyday.
Today we went to Burger King, which we hardly ever go here in Spain becuase first of all there are not as many as there are in the states, secondly we don’t really want our kids eating junk food to often and third of all it is as expensive or more than a regular no fast food place here. And the price is not the only difference here in Spain, here you could order a beer with your meal.. How about that? ..I would like a kids meal with a beer..hahha. but don’t laugh that is what I ordered!!
The kids also like to go there because they have outside little play areas where they can jump around and go through tunnels, although, today the outside area was closed due to heavy winds we have been having.. so the kids just got to eat..but hey, they were happy with that.
I must say that this idea of changing my blog was not such a bright one, I didn’t realize how much work it was going to be and how difficult. I’m very lucky to have a couple of people who are helping me and putting up with all my questions and more questions…You know who you are..and Thank You.
I hope to finish setting up this blog in a couple of weeks and then finishing up others I have on the works.. As soon as they are complete I will let everyone know..
Please leave me comments and let me know what you think…And a big Thank You to Denise, who was brave enough to leave a comment!!
Matt left this morning bright and early to go to Canada to work on aDavid Foster Show . I hear Halifax the city the show is in is below 0 right now….burrr. too cold for me…but its a show he loves to do and enjoys seeing all his music friends..
In these days of vacation, and the weather being not so hot, the kids have been stuck home having to make up games to stay entertained…As you can see from the picture above Isabella decided it would be fun to dress up Marco and their friend Pablo with all her princess accessories..They were willing participants and had a lot of fun, although, look at Marco’s expression..hahahaha..
She then decided to put make up on herself.. Doesn’t she look lovely????
We wish everyone a very Happy Easter 2008. Marco and Isabella received Huge chocolate eggs with gifts inside from the Easter Bunny. Isabella woke up at 7am as if it were Christmas Day and was very excited to see her gift from the Easter Bunny. She proceeded to eat the entire egg and around 10 am feel back asleep and didn’t wake up until 1 pm. We thought she had gone into “chocolate schock”...we were scared there for a moment…Marco, only ate a little bit and enjoyed the rest of the day playing with his new toys…
I have promised to change the names to protect the innocent and I shall do that…
On February 29th of this year, a leap year in which it is said that on this day a woman could propose to a man a friend of mine decided it would be a good time to propose to her long time boyfriend. She was not sure how she was going to do it and being a very busy career woman had no real time to prepare…
She decided at at the last minute that her best option was to send a plant to her boyfriend at work with a simple note saying “Marry me”. She made the order by phone and crossed her fingers.. (before I go on I must tell you that she was in the process of moving in with him). After a couple of hours and no phone call from her boyfriend, she started to get worried.so she called him…and she said well?? and he answered “Nice Plant”.
Up to now there has not been any more talk about the proposal, her boyfriends sisters are pressuring him and she doesn’t know what to think. The other day while driving with him while moving in some of her things , his mom called him and she answered the phone, the mom asked her what are you guys doing? and she said I’m moving and the mom said “where are you moving to”? (I guess her boyfriend forgot to mention the fact they were moving in with each other..) She said I’m moving in with your son to which the mom answered “Without a ring on your finger” to which she replied “ I SENT A PLANT”!!!!!!!!!!
I will keep you updated on the final outcome of this very interesting love affair..
Today March 19th “San Jose” is Father’s Day here in Spain. This celebration is not as comercial as it is in the states. Here, gifts are not often given although everyday that is changing and Spain is copying a lot of the American holidays such as Halloween.. As if they didn’t have enough holidays here.. Father’s Day here is celebrated with the family gathering and a nice big lunch or dinner, what else?? We celebrated with Matt this afternoon and the kids made him lovely paintings...
So, Happy Father’s Day to all those fathers out there..from all of us here in Spain.
